about

Live from the Great River Folk Festival La Crosse WI (25th Anniversary CD)

For the past 23 years the GRFF has had the honor of hosting top regional and national folk performers. This CD is a tribute to them, and the many volunteers who over the years have organized and produced the Fest. Music on this CD was selected from recordings made by Wisconsin Public Radio for the show "Simply Folk" We invite you to join us not that we're over 40 years strong. NOW down by the Mississippi River the weekend before Labor Day.

Our enthusiastic thanks go out to all the artists appearing on this CD. Their encouragement and cooperation, and that of their agents, made the work a pleasure. The idea for this project was initiated by Kathy Fitchuk with advice from Lynn Zampino and Phyllis Barney, and was brought to fruition by committee members Karen Acker, Pat Manthey, Mark McCaslin, and John Smith. We want to thank Judy Rose of Wisconsin Public Radio for helping us sort through logs and TAPES, and the Simply Folk production staff for faithfully recording the GRFF over the years. Thanks to Gene Purcell at WLSU - Wisconsin Public Radio for studio use and to Brent Huus, our engineer. Our appreciation to Diana Swim Wessel for the quilt artwork. This project was funded in part by the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Commission with funds from individual and corporate contributors and the State of Wisconsin.
